Event Description

‘Subject Based Guest Lecture’ is an activity organized by Dept. of E.C.E of K L University on 25-03-2015 from 11.30 A.M to 1:30 P.M. The Subject Based Guest Lecture is given by Sri. K.V.CHANDRA SEKHAR, Head, GDP division, National Remote Sensing Centre, ISRO, Hyderabad. The topic of the Guest Lecture is “Programming in Digital Image Processing ”. In order to contribute to the Department mission, Subject Based Guest Lecture is organized in our campus premises to bring awareness among the IIIrd year B.Tech students, M.Tech Signal processing, RADAR students and faculty E.C.E department of K L University regarding the Histogram Stretching, Steps in program for histogram stretching, Steps in program for histogram stretching LUT option, MEDIAN FILTER, Steps in program for median filter.

Session Activities

The Department of E.C.E have made proper arrangements for picking up the guest and for the comfortable stay of the Guest in the campus. The Department have made the necessary arrangements for the Subject Based Guest Lecture activity in the new seminar hall for commencement of the event in scheduled time. The B.Tech and M.Tech students are made to sit in the new seminar hall before the start of the lecture. The alternate HOD of the department Dr.M.Siva Ganga Prasad had started the event by inviting the guest of honor Sri. K.V.Chandra Sekhar on to the dais to deliver the lecture. Sri. K.V.Chandra Sekhar have started the lecture by discussing about how image processing is a useful tool for engineers and community. He gave a brief overview of the research activity going on in this field in India and what are the expected future outcomes. He then gave introduction about histogram stretching and Median Filter and explained how they can enhance the resolution of the images. The steps required for Histogram stretching and Median Filter are explained with the help of C programs needed for it. He finally shown the comparison of pictures before and after applying the Histogram stretching and Median Filter operations. The Faculty of ECE, students have actively participated in this session by expressing their doubts and got them clarified. More than 500 students had taken active participation in the event. At the end of the Subject based Guest Lecture Sri. K.V.Chandra Sekhar have shared his mail address with students and asked them to contact him if any help in research is needed. The Alternate HOD of the ECE department have delivered his valuable message on how the information shared in the lecture can be useful to the engineering students for inspiring ideas in their project works and thanked Sri. K.V.Chandra Sekhar for delivering his valuable lecture. The Speaker was honored by Dr.MSG Prasad with a shawl and memento.
