The Food Technology Study Program of is designed to produce graduates capable effectively working in food sectors, such as in food industries, government institutions or as entrepreneurs. The graduates may take positions in the area of food production, food ingredients, food research and development, food process engineering, food quality and safety system, quality control, regulatory affairs, marketing, etc. The growth of food industries in In and globally provides a wide opportunity for food technology graduates to work in this area. Significant roles to ensure that the processed foods produced by food industries are safe and best quality for consumers.
According to a report by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), India wastes food worth more than ₹44000 crore each year. The reasons identified are improper storage and packaging along with lack of processing. Processing industry has a huge scope and potential towards curbing food waste. A food technologist has thorough knowledge of food materials and processes involved, and capability to bring about novelty in the domestic and international market. The MoFPI has been giving impetus to food processing for establishing facilities all over India for the past several years. Therefore, there is an immense opportunity in this sunrise industry for young ignited minds to participate in the ongoing advancement.
About Academic programs
At present, we are offering a 3-year B.S. (Regular) and a 4-year B.S. (Honors) program in food technology. The students will have an opportunity to enroll into the honors program during their first year of B.S.
