Two National Workshops organised by Dept. of English,K L E F, Guntur.


In the Two National Workshops on “Academic Writing: New Facets” on 30th August 2017 and “Need Based Curriculum in ELT: Perspectives and Practices” on 31st August 2017 organized by the Department of English, K L E F, Professor S.A. Thameemul Ansari, Professor of University of Jazan, Soudi Arabia enlightened a huge gathering here on various aspects on Academic Writing and Curricular designing. The Guest of Honor, Mrs. Shakunthala, The Municipal Commissioner of Tenali, addressed the gathering and emphasized the need of Academic Writing as well as the writing skills in English. She also applauded the Department of English for conducting such Workshop to augment the skills among the Teachers as well as student community.

The resource person Prof. Ansari tried to give inputs on innumerable issues of new facets of Academic Writing which will help to shed light on various stages of writing in general and research writing in particular. He also gave a 10 Point debatable worksheet which was very helpful for the research scholars who are about to submit their thesis. The first day in the afternoon session, the participants were given four worksheets and a lot of discussion and explanation went on, on how to identify the academic writing and another important aspect is Self Plagiarism.

On 31-08-2017 Professor Ansari focused on Need Based Curriculum in English Language Teaching. The first and foremost point he has stressed upon is Language should be acquired as it is a skill but not a subject. He has focused on the Knowledge based teaching (KBT); Skill based teaching (SBT) and Need based teaching (NBT) where the ultimate purpose of all these teaching methods is about the Teaching and Evaluation so as to analyze the skill of the student in English language. He stated that the syllabus in the curriculum must be pre-requisite but not Pre-determined. The curriculum and instruction must be integrated. The numerous activities have been conducted on “Factors influencing needs analysis”.

A good number of 170 Students, Scholars and Faculty from various universities and colleges from various colleges augmented their writing skills by attending this two day workshop. These sort of workshops are conducted inK L E F by inviting the cosmopolitan resource persons as guests so as to enlighten the faculty and students, stressed by Prof. B. Siva Nagaiah, the Head of the Department of English of K L E F. Prof. Anand Kumar, The Principal, of K L E F, Science and Humanities focused on the university activities, where many number of workshops, seminars, conferences are organized on campus by various departments.

Wokshop on Professional communication skills


Department of English conducted a workshop on the course Professional Communication Skills on 16/06/2016 .The workshop conducted under the guidance of Mrs.S. Lavanya , Course Coordinator . It emphasized on seminars presentations and case studies. This workshop involved all the faculty members in mock interviews , group discussion and role play . This workshop went on for four days and it was immensely beneficial for the faculty members before commencement of class work.

Workshop on Rudiments of Communication silks


Department of English conducted a workshop on 29/05/2015 the course Rudiments of Communication Skills .This workshop conducted under the guidance of Dr.C.Naresh , Course Coordinator .The workshop helped the faculty very much how to overcome their practical problems before the commencement of class work . The workshop focused on LSRW skills. It focused on vocabulary, soft skills and good communication among students.

Workshop on I-tell software.


Department of English is very much keen to improve the communication skills of the students. The Department installed I tell software in about 200 computers. The main purpose of this software is to develop and strengthen language skills among students. This software provides audio and video aids for the students to improve their language competency. In connection to this a workshop was conducted on DT: 10/04/ 2015. The faculty members are well equipped with all the modules of the Itell software.

Department of English conducted a workshop on Employability Skills on dt14/12/2017 to 15/12/2017 . The workshop conducted under the guidance of Dr.K.V.Divya ,Course Coordinator .She initiated the program skills. It focused on Technical, Report writing, Resume and Job applications. The workshop helped the faculty to know about the present needs and requiems of the industries and it helped to train the students with relevant skills to overcome their difficulty at the time of interviews.

The programme on “GRE TOEFL IELTS and Opportunities Abroad” regarding


  • This to place on record that the Centre for Competitive Exams organized a special interactive session by Sri. M.Deva Santhanam Pillai, Associate Professor of English, on “GRE TOEFL IELTS and Opportunities Abroad” on 6st January, 2015 at 4.00 p.m. at Jasmine Hall,K L E F.
  • 85 students interested in going abroad for higher studies attended this interactive session.
  • The programme on “Study Abroad: Some Myths and Facts” regarding

  • “Study Abroad: Some Myths and Facts” on 21st January, 2015 at 4.00 p.m. at Rose Hall,K L E F.
  • 65 students interested in going abroad for higher studies and planning to appear for standardized tests like GRE TOEFL and IELTS attended this interactive session.

Workshop on Interpersonal Communication Skills-2015

A Three day workshop cum Orientation Programme on “Interpersonal Communication Skills 15 EN 1202” was conducted from 17th to 19th December.

The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. N.Vekatram and was attended by about 30 faculty members of the Department of English.

The main focus was on the class room delivery and effective use of activities and other learner centred approaches to Language learning.

All the faculty actively participated and contributed extensively to bring in the best practices in the Class Room.
