Professor Debapriya Das is currently a faculty in the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. He is a professor in the same, in the department of Electrical Engineering. He is also an avid researcher in the varied fields of Electrical Engineering.

Guest lecture details: Prof. Debapriya Das, started the lecture by making a clear cut difference between old and traditional power system and the modern power systems. Also he has focused the challenges faced by the modern power system. In his lecture, he has defined clearly the concept of distributed generation and how energy can be tapped and utilized properly to meet the local demand. He has emphasized the need of distributed generation. In his lecture he also focused on smart grid and its link with distribution generation. His lecture has thrown a light on wide amount of research possibility in distribution generation and smart grid area. The lecture was attended by all the EEE faculty members and B.Tech EEE and M.Tech EEE students. The lecture started at 2.10 p.m. and concluded at 5.00 p.m.
