An ornithopter (from Greek Ornithos "bird" and Petron "wing"), a bio-mimicry of birds, bats and insects, is an aircraft that flies by using the same mechanism as birds: flapping its wings instead of using engines for propulsion like most of the modern day aerodynamic models.
ORNITHOPTER WORKSHOP, in association with AerotriX, presents to you ‘Ornithopter Workshop’. This must-attend workshop is meant for participants with diverse technical backgrounds with an interest to learn about flying objects. This workshop encompasses all the concepts and principles involved in the aerodynamics of an ornithopter; right from elaborate lectures on bird flight to the design and fabrication of an ornithopter; thereby providing a complete learning experience.
- The workshop is organized personally by IIT Kanpur Aerospace Engineering Graduates
The workshop is divided into 3 modules:
- Understanding Ornithopter
- Fabricating an Ornithopter
Awards will be given to the participating teams based on the performance of the models. The names of the recipients will be put up on our website permanently and they will also be provided with certificate of merit.
